How we started

Five years ago, we left our jobs with large mortgage advisors and estate agencies to set up Oak Tree. We wanted to do something more rewarding, based on providing a friendly, personal service.

At that time, people looking for mortgage advice had two main choices. They could go to a large advisor working on commission with a restricted panel of lenders. Or they could go to a “whole-of-market” advisor who charged a fee.

We thought that customers needed something better - a “whole-of-market” advisor with access to all lenders and mortgages, but no fee.

So we did something about it. And five years on, following this principle, we’ve helped more than a thousand people to find and arrange the right mortgage.

Our business has grown almost entirely through referrals and recommendations, so our reputation matters enormously to us.

What we do

When you’re ready to talk to us, the first thing we’ll do is listen to you. Carefully. It’s the only way we can really understand what you want, and what you need.

If we can’t help you, we’ll be honest and say so.

If we can help, a 45 minute meeting is enough for us to be able start working on your behalf. We’ll use our in-depth knowledge and our fantastic software to narrow down all the thousands of available mortgage options to the ones that best suit your individual needs and circumstances.

As part of this, we’ll help you arrange things so you can stay in control of your mortgage even when things change – for example having children, or time off work.

We’ll explain everything clearly and simply, without the usual financial jargon.

Because we’re not restricted, we can think outside the box in a way that others can’t.

And if you want to take our advice and buy through us, we’ll explain the whole process, take care of the paperwork, guide you through every stage, and generally make it easy.

Our advice isn’t restricted

Unlike others, we give full and “whole-of-market” advice. We’re directly authorised by the FSA, which means we’re responsible for the advice we give.

We don’t charge a fee

We operate on commission, so there’s no fee.

We’re not part of a network

Unlike others, we’re not owned by an insurance company. It’s just us.

We’re local – and national

Our offices are on the Stratford Road in Shirley. So if you’re local, it’s easy to pop in for a face-to-face chat. But we also work nationwide and even internationally. With webcam, meetings can be anywhere.
